Diagnosis of NSM FRP reinforcement in concrete by using mixed-effects models and EMI approaches

The use of fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) in civil construction applications with near-surface mounted (NSM) method has gained considerable popularity worldwide as suitable for strengthening existing concrete structures. However, there is very little experience the implementation methods able to give a reliable prediction about health this type structures even although sudden and brittle failure modes are likely happen. Because it, more contributions on topic really needed order prevent possible catastrophic failures. In paper, novel approach based linear mixed effects models implemented results from experimental tests performed beams strengthened NSM FRP been explored. spite their rapid growth other areas, have barely applied structural problems. Impedance measurements captured PZT sensors embedded externally bonded beam used quantitative qualitative analysis. This research shows that evolution progressive damage kind repairing can be effectively monitored using proposed approach.
